From Seedling to Dwelling.
Guayacan builds homes from trees grown on reforested cattle pasture land. We craft the high quality hardwood we grow into prefabricated homes and other wood products.
Our homes capture between 100-150 tons of carbon, enough to cover your footprint for 5-10 years. In addition to capturing carbon we also reforest and fight climate change by making reforestation an economic alternative to cattle ranching and deforestation.
Our focus is on home offices and ADU's (Accessory Dwelling Units) aka "Granny Units", which are designed to alleviate the housing crisis by adding additional dwelling units to existing residences.

Our sustainable model involves our own tree farms as well as community reforestation.
We have planted over a million trees to date. Watch this video on our sustainable model.
Turning Pastures into Forest
We have reforested over 1100 acres of cattle pastures in Nicaragua. Aside from our own plantations we are partnering with Taking Root (www.takingroot.org) a non-profit that has reforested over 8500 acres of tropical pasture in Nicaragua. We use the wood grown by their network of local farmers in our homes. They have planted over 4 million trees in the last 8 years.
In 2020 our forestry team will partner with Taking Root as they expand their planting efforts. Our team will manage 750 of the 2500 acres Taking Root hopes to plant in Nicaragua next year.
